Public
Policy Committee
|
|
.
The
Public Policy Committee advises the CHBA Board on current
legal issues and then carries out the CHBA's efforts
to advance and/or defend the rights of the Hispanic
community in the legal arena, which includes the legislative,
judicial, and executive arenas. For example, through
the public policy committee, the CHBA actively participated
in the State and Federal redistricting processes after
the 1990 and 2000 U.S. Census to protect and promote
the interests of the Hispanic community. The Public
Policy committee meets every month on the last Wednesday
of the month at 1410 Grant Street, Suite A-301.

Business
Development Committee
|
|
The
Business Development Committee is brainstorming and
planning several events for the upcoming year. The Committee
is looking to arrange a new judges/new legislators'
reception, a CLE, and a joint seminar/meeting between
local Hispanic business leaders and the CHBA. If you
are interested in working with the Committee, and helping
to plan any of these events, please contact the Committee
Chair, Joe Ramirez.
The
Young Lawyers Committee will continue in the spirit
of giving this year and foster inter-community relationships
with Denver youth through a tutoring program at Horace-Mann
Elementary School and Johnson Elementary School. The
program will pair attorneys with middle school students
with the hopes of promoting education, pride, and self-reliance
in Hispanic youth. The Young Lawyers Committee will
also sponsor a reception intended to promote diversity
in the Colorado legal community. The reception will
grant a much needed opportunity to network among attorneys
and law students. If anyone is interested in planning
or participating in these fun events, please join the
Young Lawyers by contacting Meshach Rhoades.
