March 2010 - Career and Education Day for the Girls of Tomorrow Program

In March 2010, the Pro Bono Committee along with the Rodarte Center in Greeley, sponsored a Career and Education Day for the Girls of Tomorrow program.  The focus of the presentation was to bring professional Latina women to speak to the Girls of Tomorrow to discuss career and occupation choices.  The program had 6 speakers, including two attorneys. About 20 girls attended, ranging in age from 5-15 years.

November 2009 - HNBA 2013 Convention Bid for Denver!

In November, a team of CHBA representatives travelled to Roseland,  New Jersey to present a bid to host the 2013 HNBA Annual Convention in Denver!  Our presentation was a success, and we were awarded the 2013 Convention!

October 2009 - CHBA's Immigration CLE

The Public Policy Committee organized a CLE about the "Nuts and Bolts of Immigration Law."  Immigration attorney, Jeff Joseph, gave the lecture, and then a panel discussion was held by national immigration policy experts - John Amaya from the National Council of La Raza, and Jeanne Butterfield from the National Immigration Forum.

October 2009 - Law Exploring Program

The Education Committee invited youth ages 14 - 20 and their parents to participate in a three-part seminar on the legal profession.  The seminar provided the kids with an in-depth look at careers in the legal profession from lawyers who do the job every day. This included how to get started, what a lawyer actually does, and the process of taking a case to trial and trying the case.
